FLANNEL & CHILI FEST
2nd Sat in October
The fall season brings about so many things to raise a glass to, even despite the chill in the air and the painstaking task of raking leaves. Fall is the time for pumpkin-spice products (edible and not), warm soup, and the long sought-after, “sweater weather.” And although we too love all these aspects of fall, this year, we are cashing in our sweaters for flannels, our butternut squash soup for chili, and our pumpkin spice for Toffee Pecan Pie! (Hard Cider, that is.) That’s right! Join us for a special limited tap release of our new, Toffee Pecan Pie Hard Cider! And to celebrate this latest hard cider flavor, we are engulfing ourselves in the fall season and adding a chili pairing with a flannel dress code to this special release event! Plus, if you show up in your best flannel, post a photo, and Tag the von Stiehl Cider & Spirits Bar’s Facebook page, you enter yourself for a chance to win a free glass of cider. The cost is $10/person, which earns you a full glass of our new Toffee Pecan Pie Hard Cider, and a bowl of chili. (So, come with an appetite and a strong opinion of whether or not noodles belong in chili.) The chili pairing will promptly be available at 1PM, and to help you thoroughly enjoy yourself, and to work off any additional helpings of chili that you may have partook in, live music will be performing from 12-4PM. So, stop down for a bowl of chili, live music, and enjoy a hard cider or warm cocktail around the fire. Purchase your admission online or call into the winery at (920) 487-5208 to RSVP for your spot!

Peshtigo Historical Day is a day we use to celebrate the great Peshtigo fire of October 8th, 1871. We start off our day with a run/walk in the morning. Then follow with a parade at 10:30. The parade flows down French St. from Lee’s Family Foods to the stop lights. From there we take a left leading us straight to Badger Park where the days main festivities are held. Most following activities begin at noon, with Historical Reenactors, an arts and crafts sale, music, bounce houses, face painting and balloons, tons of food and beverages. Our growing car show starts at 1. It is a great family friendly event and look forward to seeing you there!

PORTAGE COUNTY FAIR
3rd weekend in July
The Portage County Fair of Amherst remains, basically, a 4-H and FFA event. The Portage County Fair Association is a non-profit organization, serving the community and surrounding area. Business people contribute much in the way of advertising support. Dominant organizations would and should include 4-H, FFA, The Tomorrow River Lions, The Amherst Women’s Club, The Amherst Garden Club, The Hobby-Lobby Group, The Amherst Boots and Saddle Club, and the Tomorrow River Conservation Club. Many area people are in one or more of these organizations. Because the Fair Association is a non-profit organization, any income over and above expenses is funneled back into the association for improvements in buildings, grounds, sanitation, and safety. This dedication and purpose has made our facilities what they are today, one of the best in the state. Again, our people and the community can take great pride in our facilities. Continued improvements will be made in the years ahead.
